Local drum group, the Yellow Jacket Singers from Ignacio, Colorado was started in 1996 by the late Johnson Taylor. The group is currently made up of primarily Southern Ute Tribal members and travels throughout Indian country, singing at major pow wows and events.


Yellow Jacket sings in the Southern style of traditional music. Many of the group's members compose their unique songs, as well as perform other traditional songs of the Ute people.
